Humor – the founding fathers were traitors

by Neil Rickert

I’m posting this in humor.  However, I am sure that the person who makes this claim is quite serious.

Referring to Washington, Adams, Jefferson and Franklin, and almost certainly intending to refer to Paine, she writes:

And that is how I’ve come to think of it. They were traitors.

This is surely one of the more absurd claims to be found on the blogosphere.

  1. People desiring power are always traitors.

Great Post! It reminds me of this video I recently came across– it’s a cute little song about how Jesus and his followers actually Occupy Jerusalem.

    Anyways, here it is:

    Which, it has a point.

  2. What Muslim nation allows nonMuslims to hold office? NO nation that has an established religion allows members of another religion that kind of power. But America stupidly does.

Right! We ought to be more like the Islamists!

(And, of course, Great Britain has an established church and has allowed people who aren’t Church of England hold office for some time. But what’s a few facts among idiots?)

    • Thanks, John.

As you probably realized, the author of that cited post is a fundamentalist evangelical. And, of course, she does not like the establishment clause of our first amendment – presumably that is part of the treachery she sees. Yet, it is precisely that establishment clause that has allowed fundamentalist Christianity to flourish here.
